In Letters to Their Employees, Delta and Spirit Both Blamed Fuel Prices. Only One Is Still Flying

In two emails sent to employees by Delta Air Lines and Spirit Airlines, both CEOs, both expressing their commitment to investing in their employees through the uncertainty of economic stability. The emails, which differ significantly from the previous ones, were sent by Delta CEO Ed Bastian, who announced a four percent raise to employees. The other email, from Spirit Airlines CEO Dave Davis, stated that the airline was ending operations after it was unable to reach a deal with the US Government to keep operating. Both emails point to the increase in the cost of fuel as a significant consideration for the business.
