“He’s a menace,” Bothell man sentenced for 2024 murder

James McNeal, a former Bothell City Councilmember, has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for the murder of 20-year-old Liliya Guyvoronsky. The victim was found dead in her Seattle home in 2024. McNeal was convicted of manslaughter and assault. Despite Alena Guyvoronky's grief, she offered words of forgiveness and spoke directly to McNeal about his actions. The couple had been dating since early 2024 and had just broken up before she was killed. Some of Liliys' friends expressed frustration with McNeal's sentence, calling him a menace and a threat to society.
