The White House is proposing a $1.5 trillion budget request for fiscal 2027, which would increase military spending by more than 40% compared to the previous year. The proposal would allow the US to purchase more munitions and build out the US naval fleet. Of the $445 billion added to the defense budget, $350 billion would be included in forthcoming legislation passed by Republicans. The budget proposal also includes requests for more spending on immigration enforcement, critical minerals, and Washington, DC.
