Sade Adu once explained why it took her and her band, The R&E band, which currently releases multiple releases a year, for years between releases, and years between Love Deluxe and Lovers Rock in 1992 and 2000, respectively, and then Soldier of Love in 2010. She explained that she is a hard perfectionist and cannot alter her record once it is on sale and cannot change it once it's on vinyl. Despite the four-year gap between Stronger Than Pride and Love Deluxe taking four months, Adu's subsequent album only took about four months due to a combination of ideas that came together easier. She believes that her perfectionist mindset prevents her from creating the perfect songs.
