Alison Zuend and Jo Treweek from Devon have completed a 1,000-mile (1,609km) journey from John O'Groats to Land's End on horseback, raising over £20,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK. The ride was inspired by both women having witnessed the impact of Alzheimer's disease, Zuending through her father and Treweek through her mother, who died of the condition during the ride. The women have been overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers on their journey. The horses have travelled through rivers, across bridges, over the Pennines, the Fosse Way and the Malverns while avoiding roads.
