Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has praised the safety of the city's St. Patrick's Day festivities, but declined to endorse the proliferation of "blackout rage gallons" (Borghs), or "blackouts," which are typically contained in plastic containers and usually dyed green, in a plastic gallon jug. The mayor, who is a teetotal, stated that he has never had a BORG and that he wants people to be safe and responsible for their alcohol consumption. However, videos posted to TikTok showed police disposing out the gallons and making them into "scenes" or "bogomen". No individuals were charged with disorderly conduct on Saturday in the 1st District, where the annual downtown parade and death of the Chicago River took place.
