Sussex subdivision races to repair tornado damage before storms return

An EF2 tornado with winds up to 120 mph hit Sussex, causing widespread damage to homes, businesses, and a historic church. The National Weather Service reported that an EF Two TORNADO hit the area with winds of up to 110 mph, causing a subdivision near Highway 164 and Hillside Road to be severely damaged. Residents had only hours to assess the damage and repair before more rain arrived. The tornado caused significant damage to businesses, homes and businesses, with some residents describing the intense intensity of the storm. Contractors quickly covered exposed areas with tarps before heavy downpours hit Sussex again. Waukesha County was under a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday night, with heavy rain and lightning.
