George Clooney was honored with the prestigious Chaplin Award at Lincoln Center in New York for his Oscar-winning career. Despite being an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, Clooney addressed political violence at the ceremony, calling for unity to build a more perfect union and "make America great again". He also quoted veteran journalist Edward R. Murrow, who he portrayed in the Broadway version of Good Night, and Good Luck, as an example of the struggle against hatred and corruption.
