How Ciara Became an Advocate for HIV Prevention

Grammy-award winner Ciara has become an advocate for HIV prevention, using her song "1, 2 Step" to raise awareness for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Gilead, the makers of PrEP, has licensed the song to re-record the lyrics for their "One2PrEP" campaign. The singer-songwriter believes that music can be used to help remove stigma surrounding these discussions. Despite advancements in preventive medications, HIV continues to rise due to the perception that HIV has been brought under control. The ultimate goal of these prevention strategies is to control or end the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
