A Fort Wainwright soldier, David Andres Mayoral, has been sentenced to 32 years in federal prison for possessing thousands of images and videos showing child sexual abuse and producing abusive material involving a child victim. Mayoral will also be on supervised release after serving his prison term. Authorities began investigating Mayoral in September 2024 after the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s Fort Eustis, Virginia, received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Search warrants were executed in October 2024 for Mayoral's home, his electronic devices and his Discord account. A forensic review found more than 2,500 images and over 680 videos of child abuse material, along with about 1,000 computer-generated or artificial intelligence-created images depicting such abuse. Court documents also revealed Mayoral admitted to sexually abusing a 9-year-old child.
