The Artemis II astronauts have shared stunning new images of Earth from space during their historic mission around the moon. The 10-day mission will take the crew around the Moon, traveling farther from Earth than any human before, and is a critical test for future plans to establish a moon base and eventually send crewed expeditions to Mars. The images are reminiscent of the iconic "blue marble" picture from the 1972 Apollo 17 mission. The mission will also test systems and hardware for NASA's plans to put boots on the lunar surface as early as 2028. The team includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch and Victor Glover, and the Canadian Space Agency's Jeremy Hansen. If all goes according to schedule, Artemis II is expected to reach the moon and make a historic lunar flyby on Monday, April 6.
