Shibuya startup shakes up corporate Japan with ‘gyaru-style’ brainstorming - TokyoReporter

Shibuya Ward-based startup, CGO Dot Com, has introduced its "Gal-style Brainstorming" to around 120 companies and municipalities in Japan. The concept involves employees being asked to abandon their honorifics and participate in creative brainstorming like members of the fashion-obsessed gyaru (gal) culture. Participants must adhere to five rules including calling each other by nicknames, speaking in casual Japanese (tameguchi), keeping their job titles a secret, allowing no silences longer than five minutes, and wearing casual clothes. The founder, 29-year-old "Bubbly" (real name Rikako Takeno), believes this shift in corporate culture could trigger real social change.
