Rapper Afroman, real name Joseph Foreman, was sued by seven cops in Adams County, Ohio for invasion of privacy after they mistakenly raided his home in 2022. The officers claimed Afroman used their faces without their consent, a misdemeanor violation in Ohio. Following the incident, Afroman turned the botched raid into a series of music videos, which have since gone viral online. The ACLU of Ohio supported Afroman in their amicus brief, calling the lawsuit a "classic entry into the SLAPP suit genre" and a misuse of First Amendment protections to censor criticism. Following a three-day trial, a jury sided with Afroman on all counts and disagreed with the cops' claims that he owed them $3.9 million in damages.
