Luka Doncic, the Lakers' star player, is nearing the five-week mark since suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain on April 2 against the Thunder, which is the team's second-round opponent in the NBA playoffs. The injury already cost him the first-round series against the Rockets, but it is expected that he will not be ready for the next game against the reigning champions. Despite undergoing advanced treatment in Spain and limited participation in on-court work, he has not been cleared for full-speed running, full contact or 1-on-1 drills. The Lakers' next game will begin with Game 3 in Los Angeles, which will be played between the five and six weeks of the injury.
