Three San Antonio-area schools were among the three winners at the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. Only two counselors statewide could win an award in their respective categories, with Amanda Still from Mesquite ISD’s Tosch Elementary School winning the School Counselor Elementary Award and Guerra from Pieper High School earning $10,000 for herself and a $15,000 grant for both. The company also awarded awards and cash to teachers with less than 10 years of experience and another instructor between 10 and 20 years in the profession.
