MIT professor Andrew Lo, director of MIT's Laboratory for Financial Engineering and principal investigator at its Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, has stated that there is an 'art' to writing AI prompts for personal finance, and it depends on user user's ability to write instructions to AI platforms. Experts highlighted the limitations of AI in financial planning, particularly in tax planning, where it struggles with crunching numbers and complex financial calculations. While AI can provide general guidance on the types of tax deductions or tax rules, it can't perform precise financial calculations, particularly for personal tax planning. This is where strong prompts can be helpful, as long as enough detail is provided to provide relevant information to the user. A strong prompt should include a sequence of prompts to generate an additional question. Once the user receives a satisfactory answer, users can then store the response in the future.
