The families of social media victims have celebrated a verdict that found that Meta and Google designed their platforms to be addictive, but insisted that the "war is not over yet". The parents gathered outside the courthouse to protest outside of the courthouse, holding photos of their children who died due to the platforms' sinister features and lack of guardrails to protect young users. The families were not part of the lawsuit. They called for legislation and transparency from Big Tech, urging transparency and reporting like every other industry. The verdict found that the companies were responsible for causing depression and anxiety in a young woman who became addicted to their platforms, Instagram and YouTube. The tech giants were also awarded $3 million in compensatory damages.
