The Emmy-winning series, Shōgun, has announced five new cast members for Season 2 of its second season, with Risei Kukihara (as Gabriel), Ryô Satô (as Rin), Seishiro Nishida (as Jōshin), Mantaro Koichi (as Saitō), and Takashi Yamaguchi (as Kanō), have been cast additions to the cast. The second season will pick up more than a decade after the events of Season 1, focusing on the relationship between Japanese Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) and English sailor John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis). The returning cast members include Sanada and Jarvis, with original showrunners and creators Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks returning for season 2. Production on the new episodes officially began in January. The series, set in feudal Japan, won an Emmy record with 18 Emmy wins in its first season.
