Several climate scientists are warning of a potential super El Niño later this year, which could significantly affect hurricanes. Cliff Mass, a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington, stated that it is too early to predict a super El Niasion. Most global modeling systems are predicting a weak-to-moderate El Niño, not a super one. However, Mass warned that weather forecasters should not assume the prediction is correct. He also mentioned that forecasting El Niños is not good in the spring.
