A customer, Erika, a self-professed frequent flyer, has accused Southwest Airlines of size discrimination by forcing her to purchase an extra seat due to her full figure on a recent flight to Las Vegas. The incident was captured in a viral video with over 1.1 million views. Erika claims to have never needed an extra chair and claims that while she is considered “bigger, plus size, overweight, fat or whatever you want to call it, she never needed more than one airplane seat. The company's "Customer of Size” regulations advise customers to proactively purchase additional seats prior to travel to ensure the additional seat is available. However, social media commenters have been outraged by the apparent fat-phobic treatment. The airline did not immediately respond to The Post's request for a comment.
