Cherokee Nation boosts funding for new Claremore health center to $400 million
Published on March 2, 2026.
The Cherokee Nation is increasing its investment in a new health facility in Claremore, raising the construction budget to $400 million. Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. signed legislation amending the 2025 act authorizing construction of the Cherokee Nation Claremore Outpatient and Emergency Health Center. The increased funding will allow the new center to better serve the region and align with other major Cherokee Nation health projects, including the replacement hospital under construction in Tahlequah. The project will be funded through fiscal year 2028 using Cherokee Nation general funds, without borrowing or relying on federal funds. The new facility is expected to be completed in fall 2028 and will be located near Highway 66 and West Country Club Road on Scissortail Boulevard.
