Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. underwent surgery for an injured rotator cuff, which doctors warn can be slow and painful recovery. The key to recovery is gradual return to activity, including wearing a sling after the surgery and physical therapy. The rotator calf is a group of muscles and tendons used for a wide range of motion, including raising your arm. While rotators cuff injuries occur in young athletes, it is more common among older adults due to age-related changes. A study from Finland found that 99% of the population over 40 years old had at least one detectable issue with the rotated cuff on an MRI regardless of their symptoms. Rotator cuff injuries can be complicated and symptoms often don't necessarily match the extent of the damage.
