Tim Cook sees Apple's hybrid AI strategy as a 'competitive weapon'

Apple CEO Tim Cook has stated that Apple's hybrid approach to artificial intelligence, where some workloads can be run on iPhones and Macs, is an advantage over large tech companies who rely heavily on their massive clouds. This strategy signals Apple's ability to run AI apps as it prepares for the launch of an updated Siri this fall. Cook, who will become executive chairman on Sept. 1, also highlighted that Apple has "enormous opportunities" in artificial intelligence. Despite a decrease in capital expenditures, Apple's capex was lower than a StreetAccount estimate of $3.44 billion in the June quarter. Despite this, Cook noted that operating expenses are increasing and that Apple aims to use AI as a selling point for iCloud subscriptions.
