The Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 in a shootout, marking the third time in as many games that needed a shootout between the two teams this season. Wyatt Johnston scored the only goal of the contest for the visitors. Despite a strong defensive effort from the Avalanche, their lead in the Central Division is now down to two points. The Avs outshot the Stars 34-18 and Cale Makar scored the first goal of this season, marking his 20th goal in his career. Nathan MacKinnon also contributed to the score, earning 111 points, tying the third-most of his career in Colorado.
