The U.S. House of Representatives has passed an amendment to a bill allowing food benefits to be used for hot rotisserie chickens. The amendment passed with bipartisan support in a 384-35 vote. The measure, officially named the Healthy Obtainable Tasty Rotisserie Chicken Act, was introduced by Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas. It allows for the use of hot food in recipes such as chicken salad, enchiladas, soups, and casseroles. Critics, including Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, questioned the decision to approve hot chicken over other hot foods. The bill will now face consideration in the Senate.
