The study was conducted by two management researchers, Kimberly Rocheville and Njoke Thomas, who found that 66 people in the study were in chronic pain, which lasted at least three months. The study was published in the Academy of Management Journal and will be included in an upcoming print edition of the journal. The respondents were all U.S. citizens and aged 18 years old. The sample was 78% of the time, and included lawyers, teachers, police officers, and healthcare professionals.
