A black bear has moved into a neighborhood in Cobb County, Georgia, causing concern among parents and pet owners. The incidents are occurring in the Huntington Woods subdivision of Marietta. Concerns are raised about the bear becoming habituated in the neighborhood, running over or injuring someone. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) suggests that this is likely due to a natural process that occurs each Spring when young male bears begin searching for their own territory. DNR recommends removing items that attract the bear from the area first, such as deer feed, bird seed, water in bird baths and trash, before allowing it to return to the woods. However, so far, no confirmed cases of such an incident have occurred.
