Lakers guard Austin Reaves has sustained a Grade 2 oblique strain during a game against the Thunder, which he reached back for a rebound. The injury occurred when Reaves' body twisted awkwardly due to a rebound being tipped at the last second by Chet Holmgren. Reaves is expected to return within three to five weeks for the injury, which requires rest and stillness. Dr. Evan Jeffries, co-host of “The Hoops Rehab Show” has cautioned Reaves against rushing back, especially as there is a 12% to 25% chance of reinjury. Long-term risk of the injury is lower than that of Luka Doncic's injured hamstring. If Reaves can return after the season, he may face a potential max contract.
