The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) continues to operate with reduced staffing levels during a partial federal government shutdown, leading to extended security wait times at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. A separate security checkpoint in Terminal C has remained open with restricted access, intended for families with small children and passengers with mobility needs. However, KPRC 2 observed additional groups being allowed through the checkpoint, which also included United Airlines' United Premier 1K members. Passengers without these designations were turned away. The Houston Airport System and United Airlines did not directly address why some passengers appeared to be granted access based on airline status. With screening delays expected to continue, travelers are advised to arrive at least four hours before their scheduled departure.
