Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) is under investigation by the Department of Justice for allegedly killing rancher Randall Clegg's (Michael Cudlitz) son, Carson, after the marshals became involved in a dispute between the local cowpokes and the Broken Rock Reservation. This incident occurred during the final episodes of Season 2 of "Yellowstone," "Enemies by Monday" and "Sins of the Father." Tate Dutton was kidnapped by a group of white supremacists and Kayce retaliated against them, leading to some of his most violent moments on the show. Despite this, Kayce was reinstated to his position as marshal after the kidnapping.
