AI Is Powering a Blue‑Collar Hiring Boom Few Saw Coming

A study by Dutch recruitment company Randstad has found that the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence tools by businesses may hit an unexpected wall unless more skilled trade workers are trained to support the infrastructure and support AI. The study found that while some companies may use AI to reduce their head counts, it is generating more employment opportunities in other areas of the labor market. The research also revealed that since generative AI became more affordable and accessible to businesses in 2022, demand for skilled trade employees has more than doubled. However, this is not limited to those relatively geekish skilled trades.
