Steve Hilton, former British Prime Minister David Cameron's director of strategy and one of his closest advisers, has been endorsed by President Donald Trump for the California governor's race. Hilton, who has dual nationality, served as Cameron's Director of Strategy before moving to California. The top two finishers in the June 2 open primary contest will advance to November's election regardless of party affiliation. Under California law, Hilton and Chad Bianco are tied with three Democrats, including U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell, former US Representative Katie Porter, and billionaire Tom Steyer. The last Republican governor of California served from 2003 to 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was the last to serve.
