Craft distillery founded by Nevada couple files for bankruptcy

The American spirits market is facing challenging economic and social headwinds, with one distillery recently filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS) reported that while spirits supplier sales in the US were down -1.1% in 2024, totaling $37.2 billion, while volumes rose 1.1%. Brown-Forman CEO Lawson Whiting highlighted the challenges facing the liquor industry during his company's fourth-quarter earnings call. He also acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding President Donald Trump's tariff situation, which has created uncertainty for the industry. The industry also faces social changes as younger Americans increasingly drink less alcohol.
