The Charlotte animal shelter has opened up 30 dog kennels one day after a critical max-capacity alert. The shelter, located near the airport, reported that no dog kensens were available before the opening and more dogs were expected to leave the premises. Officials warned that if at least 30 dogs hadn't left the shelter, staff may face "heartbreaking" euthanasia decisions. As of 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, more than 80 dogs have left the facility.
