Irish police have cracked a seized drug dealer’s Bitcoin wallet, which had been dormant for nearly a decade. The full balance of 500 BTC, worth roughly $35 million, transferred out in a single on-chain transaction. This breakthrough marks the first real breakthrough in a case that has been frustrating investigators for nearly ten years. The remaining 11 wallets hold potentially hundreds of millions of dollars at current prices. The Bitcoin fortune traces back to Clifton Collins, a 55-year-old from Dublin who accumulated around 6,000 BTC between 2011 and 2012. Collins was sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in a large-scale cannabis operation and the crypto holdings were discovered during a routine Garda traffic stop in County Galway in 2017.
