Prince Rogers Nelson, the music superstar known for his hits "Purple Rain," "1999," and "Nothing Compares 2 U," died from an accidental fentanyl overdose on April 21, 2016 at age 57. The news of Prince's death was met with skepticism, as Prince was so secretive and controlling of his music and public image that he rarely publicly acknowledged his loss. The author decided to pay tribute to Prince on a Prince Pilgrimage, flying to Minneapolis on the weekend before his birthday. Despite not being a fan of Prince, author shares his personal journey to pay respects to him.
