China has announced the implementation of a long-term care insurance system to help alleviate the burden on families and bolster the country's social safety net. The plan aims to provide services or financial support for people with sustained disabilities for six months or more. The funding will come from employers, individuals, and government subsidies, with both rural and urban residents receiving the same benefits. This move comes after China's National People's Congress announced plans to refine supportive policies for seniors, including pension financing, wellness and care. The number of people aged over 60 in China is expected to reach 400 million by 2035, roughly equal to the combined populations of the United States and Italy.
