Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has introduced her "Trump AI Act" in an effort to create a national standard for artificial intelligence in America. Blackburn's bill differs from the White House National Framework on AI, but she believes it will meet President Donald Trump's request for Congress to pass such legislation. Blackburn places the responsibility for the platform’s safety on the AI chatbot developer, while the White-House framework places the duty of care on parents. Blackburn also emphasizes that social media companies, including Meta, intentionally harm children's mental health. Despite these differences, Blackburn believes her bill will pass both the Senate and the House and is a starting point for enacting a framework that both tech-accelerationist Republicans and Democrats can support.
