Three families who lost loved ones in crimes involving undocumented immigrants testified before a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Capitol Hill. The hearing, which included "angel families," was heated as Democrats criticized it as politically motivated. Congressman Hank Johnson of Georgia suggested the committee could have instead focused on other issues, including the economic impact of tax policy. Other witnesses included Jen Heiling whose son Brady and his girlfriend were killed by a driver who was intoxicated and traveling the wrong way on a highway. Patricia Fox's daughter was severely injured when an unlicensed driver ran a stop sign and hit her, leaving her with severe injuries. The Department of Justice identifies 11 states and the District of Columbia as sanctuary jurisdictions, with additional policies in 14 other states.
