Lawrence Summers, a prominent economist and prominent critic of the idea of a U.S. Bitcoin reserve, has lost his affiliation with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). This decision was made following an internal review of his conduct. Despite his reservations about using Bitcoin as a reserve asset, Summers has acknowledged the broader significance of the technology. The NBER, founded in 1920, is considered a major economics institution and includes many Nobel Prize winners and leading economic policymakers.
