Rita Wilson, an actress and singer, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery following the diagnosis. She shared her two requests to her husband, Tom Hanks, for a celebration of her life if anything happens to her. Wilson's comments came during a talk and performance at the Sound of a Woman: Demi Moore event ahead of the release of her upcoming album, Sound of A Woman. She previously mentioned her diagnosis in a March 2019 Instagram post. Wilson marked 10 years of being cancer-free on March 31, 2025.
