Lyft driver, Larry Keech, believes a New York state trooper saved him from becoming the killer's next victim. Keech was driving for the ride-hailing app Lyft six years ago when he accepted a fare from Watertown to Massena, New York. The passenger was identified as Ayub Guled, a man wanted for murder and attempted murder in Miami, Florida. Guled had killed a man the previous month by shooting him in the face at close range. New York State Police Investigator Connor Sutton became suspicious while speaking with the Lyft passenger and brought his K-9 partner to inspect the car. During a search, Sutton found methamphetamine, multiple handguns and high-capacity magazines in the passenger's luggage. Guling was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in July.
