Exclusive: Japan government asks wholesalers to switch to Brent from Dubai pricing, document shows

The Japan's industry ministry has asked domestic wholesalers to switch to Brent crude oil pricing from the Dubai benchmark in an attempt to contain rising gasoline prices. The move adds to the country's arsenal of coping strategies against disruptions of the Iran war. The Ministry of Economics, Trade and Industry declined to comment on the matter. The guidance is not legally binding but companies typically comply.
