The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority is one of the most influential public agencies in Northeast Ohio. The agency's board chair, Dave Wondolowski, is currently midway through a term that runs through 2028. However, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb has proposed to appoint Wondolow to one of his city's seats, potentially extending his tenure by two years. Cuyahog County Executive Chris Ronayne has criticized this move as a "back-room deal" and threatened to remove Wondolowe if he declines the city's nomination or resign his county-appointed seat. The Port Authority was established in 1968 to enhance Cleveland's competitiveness on the Great Lakes and serves staggered four-year terms. Its seats influence infrastructure, development, and regional economic activity.
