Television giants team up against dominant streaming OS & Apple TV

The Association of Commercial Television and Video on Demand Services (ACT) has called for EU antitrust chief Teresa Ribera to introduce DMA-style regulation to set-top boxes and smart TVs. The ACT group, which includes Canal+ RTL, Mediaset, ITV, Paramount+ NBCUniversal, Walt Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, Sky, and TF1 Groupe, argues that major TV operating systems are becoming more influential in controlling access to audiences and content distribution. However, Apple's control over its ecosystem makes it often grouped in with market leaders like Android TV, Amazon Fire OS, and Samsung Tizen OS. The designation would require significant adjustments without significant market share.
