President Donald Trump has cancelled a planned trip by two of his administration's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were scheduled to participate in direct talks with an Iranian delegation. The president stated that the trip would involve too much time and work, and that there was "tensely much time wasted on traveling, too much work!" and "there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their [Iranian] leadership." The cancellation of the trip was reported by Axios Global Affairs Correspondent Barak Ravid shortly after Ravid reported that Trump had informed him that he had cancelled the trip due to the Iranian position in the negotiations. The White House referred the Daily Caller News Foundation to Trump's Truth Social post when asked for comment.
