Homan: ICE officers will not assist with airport security operations amid TSA staffing shortage

White House border czar Tom Homan stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers will not be directly involved in airport security measures due to a shortage of personnel. This comes a day before ICE officials begin assisting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees. Homan, who is in charge of the operation, stated that he is working with acting ICE Director Todd Lyons and acting TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill to come up with a plan to prioritise airports where the longest waits are. His comments conflict with statements from Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy that ICE officers would assist with security operations at airports.
