Clarksville man facing cybercrime charges in connection to Maryland medical system hack

Six women are suing the University of Maryland (University of Maryland) for NEGLIGENCE, alleging that a pharmaceuticalist hacked into the system and accessed its systems to watch patients at the hospital and home. The lawsuit also alleges that more than 70 others gained access to their systems through this hack. Matthew Bathula, 41, from Clarksville, Maryland, has been charged with two counts of unauthorized access to a protected computer and one count of aggravated identity theft. He is also accused of gaining access to nearly 200 private information about nearly 200 victims. The FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland have stated that Bathula's actions are reprehensible and violate the privacy of his employer and co-workers. The six women are asking for a class action lawsuit, which could allow other victims to join.
