Controversial build plans for Bristol beauty spot suffer setback

The controversial plans to build 260 homes on the Brislington Meadows site in south Bristol have been thwarted by councillors who voted against the project in its current form due to concerns over flooding and harm to wildlife. The site has been subject to a dispute over planning permission since it was purchased by Homes England, the government's land and property agency, in 2000. Concerns included a lack of detailed plans for "biodiversity net gain", a tool used in planning decisions to measure the impact of developments on wildlife.
