Eagle Pass man sentenced to more than 14 years in prison for role in human smuggling operation

Rodolfo Daniel De Hoyos, a 22-year-old man from Eagle Pass, Texas, has been sentenced to 14 years and two months in prison for his role in a human smuggling operation. He was previously taken into custody in 2021 after Texas Department of Public Safety troopers found three Guatemalan immigrants in his vehicle. He admitted to being paid $1,500 for the operation and was arrested again in August 2023 for smuggling immigrants for his accomplice, Anthony Ballones Jr. De Hagueos and his co-defendants sexually assaulted a pregnant woman and threatened to kill their child if payments were not made.
